Creative Engineer

Engineer by training, creative by instinct. I turn messy data into decisions on one side of my brain, and design human-centered things on the other.

About me

Two hemispheres, one engineer

Portrait of Isabela Molina

I love engineering because it brings together both hemispheres: logic and creativity.

I'm an industrial engineer and a biomedical engineer, trained in ABET-accredited programs. I've always been fascinated by numbers, and by the people behind them. I bring 3+ years of analytics consulting for international clients like Microsoft, plus research and biomedical product development built to serve the needs of a specific population. I'm driven to solve problems wherever I can contribute to a goal, keeping people and the environment at the center.

How I work

Two sides, working together

Left · Logic

I make data trustworthy and decisive.

I unify information from different platforms into a single, reliable source of truth that lets teams make the strategic decisions their needs call for. I analyze data holistically to spot critical points, propose improvements, and move the organization's goals forward.

Right · Creative

I design for the human on the other end.

I apply research methods to understand people's and clients' needs, develop products and strategy, and test hypotheses. And I can carry a project from start to finish, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to help meet the objectives.

01

Microsoft Elevate: one source of truth

Unified 5+ fragmented data sources into a single Power BI model with role-sensitive validation, so senior leaders could rely on one trusted number to make decisions. Built as part of the team.

02

Microsoft AI Business Solutions: automated coordination

Streamlined cross-functional coordination for Microsoft's AI Business Solutions team, connecting sellers, clients, and engineering teams across 7+ time zones. I built automated communication flows that saved 30+ labor hours a month; at a loaded rate of ~$50/hour, that's roughly $18,000+ a year back to the business, with fewer errors and more time for real analysis.

03

Microsoft Global Partner: staffing blueprint

Modeled a global staffing blueprint for Microsoft's Global Partner Sales organization across 3+ continents, mapping roles, regions, and worker taxonomy to align 800+ resources with worldwide revenue growth targets.

04

Gingival tissue biomaterials at UCLA

Research on biomaterials designed to help regenerate human gingival tissue, including statistical analysis to test the hypothesis. Results were promising, and the work was granted a UCLA Research Excellence Award. Presented as a research poster.

05

Published ear-EEG wearable (IEEE)

I published a peer-reviewed paper (co-authored) on a wearable ear-EEG device (an earplug) that captures brain signals outside the lab.

06

TeraKid: therapy, continued at home

A product designed to help children with cerebral palsy continue their physical therapy at home, extending the progress made in the clinic toward their goals. Built during COVID lockdowns, when many families couldn't or wouldn't attend in-person medical services.

07

Supply research on nanostores in emerging markets

Focus-group and qualitative research into how nanostores (small independent neighborhood shops) in emerging economies source and restock, surfacing the real constraints behind their supply decisions.

Plantable packaging: waste that grows

Seed-embedded, plantable packaging for cooking-herb shoppers: thyme, bay, basil and more, including developing the material itself. Instead of throwing the wrapper away, you plant it and grow the next batch.
